CELEBRATIONS

Health Ministries

“In the Health Department we are committed to providing sound medical and scientific evidence for a healthy, happy lifestyle. Using CELEBRATIONS* as our theme, we advocate a balanced approach to general health and life in general, whilst offering programmes of a more specific nature dealing with other health and lifestyle challenges.

None of the Health Department programmes are based on guilt, but on a joyous celebration of the gift of life!
*CELEBRATIONS is an acronym for: Choices, Exercise, Liquids, Environment, Belief, Rest, Air, Temperance, Integrity, Optimism, Nutrition, Social Support.

Hand Washing

Hand washing is a simple habit that can help keep you healthy. Learn about the benefits of good hand hygiene, as well as when to wash your hands and how to clean them properly.
To minimize the germs passed around your family, make regular hand washing a rule for everyone, especially:
·         Before eating and cooking
·         After using the bathroom
·         After cleaning around the house
·         After touching animals, including family pets
·         Before and after visiting or taking care of any sick friends or relatives
·         After blowing one's nose, coughing, or sneezing
·         After being outside (playing, gardening, walking the dog, etc.)
·         After coughing or sneezing into your hands
·         Before and after treating wounds or cuts
·          Before and after touching a sick or injured person
·          After handling garbage
·          Before inserting or removing contact lenses
·          When using public restrooms, such as those in airports, train stations, bus stations and restaurants.
Don't underestimate the power of hand washing! The few seconds you spend at the sink could save you trips to the doctor's office.
